Benefit Apps

Overview

Shipping companies run on Benefit: where every ship is, what it is carrying, and who is on board.

Mobile app

I was the only designer on the mobile app. Login, dashboards, messages and notifications, submissions, quick search — the whole thing in a phone, for people whose work does not happen at a desk.

The whole flow mapped out in wireframes, dozens of screens joined by connector lines
Across the suite

The suite was a team project. My part was the messaging system, some of the dashboards, and components that other people then built with.

A seafarer profile in the dark theme: basic details and current sea service across the top, then sea service years, experience by rank, a pie chart by vessel, and tabs of certificates
The same profile in the light theme, laid out identically
The chip colours from the design system - rows of status chips on dark, on light, and as background fills
A page of components in the dark theme: cards, links, document lists, thumbnail grids and dashboard tables
Nested table samples at four sizes, each vessel row opening to reveal the rows underneath it
A record open with the comments panel beside it - forty-five messages, each with an avatar and a preview line
The ship side panel in five states - the vessel photograph at the top, then last noon report, next port calls, works and agents
The comments panel closer in, a thread with replies stacked under the first message
The phone app: a fleet overview, the same in dark, a vessel page with its next port calls, and a list of trainings
Challenge

Everything a shipping company knows sits in one product: ships, cargo, routes, crews, and the full history of every person.
