Cancellation Insurance

Overview

Tick the insurance box when you book a hotel, and an email brings you here to manage what you bought.

Challenge

Some people set everything up in advance. Others arrive only after something has gone wrong, with nothing filled in.

Design process

You cannot file a claim until the policy is complete: every guest named, every consent accepted, every room assigned. That is the insurer's requirement. The flow is built to get people through it early, and to get them through it fast when they have not.

The flows mapped out in Figma - the wallet, adding guests, editing them, and the cancellation claim running down the middle
Inside the wallet

There is no app to download and no password to remember. The email drops you in, a code verifies you, and from there you find your booking, say which room you are in, add the people staying with you, and submit.

The way in: enter the email on the reservation, with the FAQs laid out on dark blue below
The email verification dialogue, six boxes for the code sent to the address
The wallet once you are in - your name across the top and the upcoming trip as a dark card with the dates, booking number and beneficiary
Your bookings listed as cards under the trip, each with its cover, dates, rooms and how many guests are insured
One booking open - the journey on the left, and the two things you can do beside it: add guests to the rooms, or submit a claim
The first question in the flow: are you staying in one of the rooms, with a toggle and a room to pick
Filling in the insured guests - what the cover includes, and a stepper across the bottom for room one, two, three and the consents
The confirmation: the change request has been submitted, with its request number
The application record - room one, pending, listing the data added for each insured guest
Guests per room with the beneficiary above them, one card filled in and one still empty
Complexity

Every booking carries different cover from a different insurer, and the platform is rebranded for each partner selling it.
